Monthly Favourites | August

Its the time of the month where bloggers post a collection of things - beauty products, fashion items or random faves - that they have been loving through the month! So here are some things I have been loving through the 31 days of August..

Sleek Face Form in Light - A blush, Bronzer and Highlighter in one! I bought this earlier in the year after reading countless good reviews on it and like many other people who read blogs, I gave into the hype! I purchased the shade 'light' and it is perfect for my skin tone. I love it!

Sleek Blush in Pomegranate - I bought this blush late last year (after seeing reviews obviously!) and thought it was the perfect plum colour blush for Autumn/Winter but ended up still using it through the Spring and Summer months too! It is super pigmented and long lasting - love love love sleek blushes!

Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick in Beige Democrachic (26) - I am a fan of lipsticks rather than lipglosses but still love that glossy finish of a lipgloss. This Bourjois lipstick is the perfect mix of the two! It is a beautiful glossy pinky nude shade that is perfect for summer but also for that transition into Autumn/Winter.

Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in Huckleberry - A beautiful pastel blue - my favourite nail colour of the summer! If you love pastel nail shades as much as I do, you will love it!

Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm in Vanilla Glow - Through the summer months, I tend to wear slightly less foundation so this has been amazing for me. Personally I don't think think it has brilliant coverage but it is definitely is long lasting.

and I also have a random favourite.. a film!

The Fault in Our Stars - Who hasn't see this film! I saw this film at the cinema at the end of July with my sister and cousin and although it is very sad :( I absolutely loved it! Brilliant acting and amazing cinematography (the former media and film student in me!) I still haven't read the book yet so I'm looking forward to reading it although I've see the film! If you haven't seen this film yet - I definitely recommend it!

Nails Of The Week | Blue and Silver

If you follow me on Instagram (@hellomisslauren_) you will know that Barry M's Huckleberry has graced my nails for the past week and as I have loved the colour so much, I have painted my nails the same nail polish again for this week! Unlike last week, I decided to paint one nail in a beautiful shimmery silver by Ted Baker (this shade doesn't have a name unfortuntely).

As you will probably know by now, Barry M nail paints are my favourite brand for nail colours for a number of reasons and one being their huge selection of colours - gel, glitter, matte - Barry M has them all! I don't tend to wear glitter very often but with this gorgeous pastel blue, I think it looks lovely and perfect for this time of year.

Wishlist Wednesday #1

I don't know about you but I love to read blog posts talking about things that people have on their wishlists, basically things they wish they could buy if they could. As I love these type of posts, I am going to start a regular blog series called 'Wishlist Wednesday' and pick some pieces that I would love to buy! It's not going to be a weekly feature here but maybe a once-a-month feature?

Ok, so here's my first 'Wishlist Wednesday'...

Natural Everyday Make-up Look

I love make-up and spend hours watching make-up tutorials on YouTube, flicking through fashion magazines and trying to recreate make-up looks. I am no make-up artist but love to try out different make-up looks and  one my favourite looks, believe it or not, is a subtle natural make look with a light pink lip.

During the summer, I tend to wear slightly less foundation and my  go-to foundation in the last few weeks has been the Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm in Vanilla Glow. Although it doesn't have great coverage, its so light and doesn't make my skin feel greasy and is also long lasting. For eyeshadow I used the Rimmel Colour Rush Duo Eyeshadow in Walnut Pearls. The eyeshadow is a creamy pressed powder texture and is long lasting.

To give my cheeks some colour I applied Sleek 'Pomegranate' Blush to the apples of my cheeks. This is my favourite blush as its very pigmented and a gorgeous plum shade. I am a lover of maybelline mascaras - the rocket, falsies - but lately after receiving it from Heat as part of my thank you goodie bag, I have been loving the Barry M Lash Vegas Waterproof Mascara. To complete my look, I applied Tanya Burr Lipgloss in Picnic in The park. It is super glossy and long wearing.

'Taylor' by Taylor Swift | Perfume

This is the third frangance, released in 2013, by American country singer/songwriter, Taylor Swift. As Taylor wanted to capture her personality in a bottle, the perfume is named after Taylor herself. This is my current go-to scent and let me tell you, it smells amazing!

The scent is a fresh fruity floral with top notes of lychee, tangerine and magnolia, heart of peony, hydrangeas and vanilla orchid and a base of sandalwood, apricot nectar, cashmere musk and woods.

The packaging is a clear glass retro style bottle with a pearl necklace (Taylor's favourite jewel) around the giant crystal ball cap.

If you love fruity floral scents or are just a huge fan of Taylor (like me!) then you should definietly try out this perfume. I'm sure you would love it!

Nails Of The Week | Barry M's Blueberry

My nails have been in need of a good TLC - they have been breaking and chipping easily - so I thought this colour would be perfect as its a beautiful fresh summery shade - although I say summer, the weather currently in London says different.

This nail paint is one from their gelly collection and is named 'Blueberry'. Sky blue (with a hint of violet) would describe this shade perfectly and applied with two thin coats it appears streak free. As the name suggests - gelly - the polish dries to a super glossy finish without a top coat needed.

I love this colour and feel it is perfect for the spring and summer months. Barry M nail polishes are one of my favourite nail colour brands as they have a great range of different colours, they are great quality and not to mention they are really affordable at just £3.99* a bottle (some are £2.99).

St. Ives Naturally Clear Apricot Facial Scrub

We all know how important it is to have a good skincare routine don't we? One part of that routine is to have a good facial scrub.

My current favourite one is the St. Ives Facial Scrub with an Apricot scent. It is the one specially designed for blemish prone and oily skin and is used effectively to lift dirt and oils that lead to blemish and blackhead outbreaks. It has been voted as the UK's number one facial scrub brand!

I tend to use this once, maybe twice, a week as it is fairly harsh on the skin so I wouldn't recommend using it more than that. I apply it to a damp face and using slight pressure, massage in to my skin before rinsing with warm water. I find that it makes my skin feel instantly more radiant and my skin feels really clean and fresh after using it.

This is definitely one of my favourite skincare products and if you are looking for a new facial scrub, I would recommend trying this one out.

Aussie Miracle 'Aussome Volume' Dry Shampoo

I've never been a lover of dry shampoo, on second day (or sometimes third day) hair I usually either just put my hair in a ponytail or a bun and just wash it that night and one thing that has put me off them is the smell. But when I got given this one by Aussie as part of my goodie bag from Heat I had to give it a go and I can say I love this one and will definietly be repurchasing!

The scent is not the lovliest of scents but its the most bareable smelling dry shampoo I have tried. I have got the one which is for 'aussome volume' but there are also two others in the Aussie dry shampoo collection; colour mate for coloured hair and mega instant for normal to greasy hair.

What I like about it? It's a light weight dry shampoo which means it doesn't leave me frantically brushing through my hair trying to get rid of the white marks. It gives a nice amount of volume and texture which is definietly needed as my hair can look a little bit flat especially when I have second day hair. I have also found that some dry shampoos can make your hair feel even more greasy but this one makes your hair feel fresh and more manageable.

Need more volume, short of time and looking for a dry shampoo? I would definietly recommend giving this one a go!
